Activities
Stay active, stay younger.
Lark Hill - a village built around ExtraCare's 'stay active, stay young' style of living.
ExtraCare have proved that staying active in later life helps us stay healthy and independent for longer. So whether you want to learn new skills, challenge yourself to the limits, or simply relax in the company of friends, the ExtraCare lifestyle at Lark Hill provides every opportunity. With over 85 different activities, there's something to suit everyone.
The Village is built around a host of superb facilities that include arts and crafts, ceramics, gardening, woodwork, IT, and health and well-being therapies. Or you can simply talk a relaxed stroll in the extensive landscaped gardens and admire the magnificent view across the city and surrounding Soar Valley.
For those who enjoy more adventurous activities, there are challenges to be met at the Calvert Trust Outdoor Activities Centre, where you can spend a few days canoeing, riding horses, abseiling, driving a 4x4, and outdoor activities of every description in the wilds of deepest Devon. Some ExtraCare residents think nothing of looping the loop in a glider, swimming with sharks or learning survival techniques on Exmoor.
And let's not overlook ExtraCare Traditions. These are hugely enjoyable activities that have proved so popular with residents and friends alike, they've become an established facourite with all our Villages and schemes.
Then there's our Residents in Bloom, the annual competition where teams compete to achieve the coveted title of ExtraCare Residents in Bloom Champion. Another Summer Tradition is our search for the 'Xtra' Factor, If you can sing dance or entertain in any way, be ready for this Summer favourite.
Other options include excursions to the races, and a trip on the Orient Express. And last but not least, our end of year 'must' is The ExtraCare Christmas Spectacular at Birmingham's Symphony Hall featuring mass bands, choirs, soloists and celebrities. Definitely not to be missed.
Whether you'd like to learn new skills or brush up on some old ones, there's always plenty of opportunity to enjoy doing it in the company of good friends and neighbours at Lark Hill.
