Nottingham Villagers Get Street Wise
26th February 2009
With over 40 streets, 3 courtyards and 18 leisure facilities, future villagers at Lark Hill have been busy choosing names for the various areas around the flagship retirement scheme before it opens this summer. Given the association with Larks, it was hardly surprising that 'birds' was the chosen theme and residents spent an exciting day voting on their favourites.
Says Village Manager, Ian Finnie of The ExtraCare Charitable Trust: "We asked everyone to agree on a common theme. Some favourite suggestions included 'The Woodpecker' for the village woodwork shop, and 'Oystercatcher' for the restaurant with some fun ideas such as 'The Nightjar' orĀ 'Swallow' for the bar. At the end of the day the choice was down to the residents. It's fun, creates a bit of debate and ensures everyone can join in."
Village names will be compiled and sent to the architect and builders so that they can be incorporated into the completed village when it opens.
Applications for the Village are open, please phone 0115 940 6349 for information.
